Grand Cayman is the main island of the Cayman Islands, it is not only the biggest but it is also the liveliest, which makes it know as the "party island". You will find a wide variety of things to do, and places to stay in Grand Cayman. The famous pristine beach Seven Mile Beach, where you will find all the restaurants, bars, white sandy beach, and crystal clear water. This is where most of the tourists stay when they visit Grand Cayman, it's easily accessable to different parts of the island, but this is also where all the action is.
Just to the east of Seven Mile Beach is Governors Harbour, and Safehaven, this area is more residential, with canals throught bringing you to North Sound. There are some magnificent homes in these areas, most with their own docks.
To the south of Seven Mile Beach is George Town, which is the Capital of the Cayman Islands. In George Town, you will find the business district, where there are all the banks, accounting firms, law firms, as well as restaurants, bars, tourist shops and boutiques. Cruise Ships will anchor just of George Town, and the tourists are brought in to enjoy all the Duty Free Shops available in George Town.
South of George Town you get into the more family residential area of South Sound. This is a very quiet, family oriented community. Beautiful beach front properties, family homes, townhouses, as well as sports clubs and complexes. There is come terrific snorkeling at Smith Cove, as well as excellent off shore diving at Sunset House, Don Fosters, and Eden Rock. South Sound is truely a sports enthusiests mecca, you will always find someone out and about whether is be running, snorkeling, kayaking, walking a dog, kite boarding, or taking a romantic ocean view stroll.
Moving into the more eastern part of the Island you will see there is a lot more open space, bigger land areas, and more residential areas. You can follow the main road all the way through East End to the North Side and to the end to Rum Point and Cayman Kai.
As you roll into North Side you will notice some more beautiful beach front homes, with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. Near the end of North Side you will see Rum Point, this is a very tourist area, beach chairs, crystal blue waters, and white sandy beach. You can walk out in knee deep water for what seems like forever, or you can rent a water bike, or wave runner. This area is quite residential with long and short term rentals of beach front villas and town homes. This follows into Cayman Kai, with more beach front properties on both sides of the street, a great beach side restaurant and a dock for boaters that need to grab a bite to eat.
No matter where you end up on Grand Cayman you will fall in love with your surroundings. Blue skies, crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches, the warm touch of the sun. The perfect place to be.
